AKTERM Fire-Retardant Intumescent Coating with a dry layer thickness of 1.7 mm and 1.35 mm provides fire resistance of the coating for 60, 90 and 120 minutes accordingly (3 and 4 groups of fire protection efficiency), which is confirmed by fire safety certificates.
AKTERM Fire Retardant Paint (R45, R60, R90, R120) is used to ensure fire safety of metal structures. The paint is an intumescent fire retardant paint designed to increase the fire resistance of any metal structures.
The coating AKTERM Fire Retardant is used as protection against open flame or other high-temperature pressure of structural steel beams, supports, building structures of industrial and civil construction, indoors and outdoors (with using all-weather environment lacquers or enamels) in order to increase their fire resistance.
The coverage rate of the Fire Retardant modification is 1 kg per 1 m² surface with a layer thickness of 1 mm. The coating color after drying is white.
Apply 2-3 coat of AKTERM Fire Retardant over the prepared metal surface (depending on the metal thickness) with the drying time between coats under normal conditions for at least 24 hours. The recoat time increases at lower temperatures and higher humidity. The thickness of each primer coat should be 18-25 microns. The primer average coverage rate depends on the application method and it is 90-120 g/m2. Cure time of the top coat at least 3 days.
The drying time of the AKTERM Fire Retardant coating when apply a single-coat to the metal is 60 minutes, at a temperature of 20 ± 2 °C and an air humidity of not more than 80%. The lower temperatures increase the drying time. Application of the second and next coatings is allowed after 24 hours. The high-quality paint and varnish coating cannot be formed at temperature below + 5 °C and humidity above 85%.
The coverage depends on the thickness of the structure and the required group of fire-retardant efficiency.
Remove the rust from the metal surface by any method (metal brushes or sandpaper; manually or by sandblasting method) until pure metal before applying AKTERM Fire Retardant. Apply primer.
Instruction for application over metal surface
Apply 2-3 coat of AKTERM Fire Retardant the prepared metal surface (depends on the metal thickness) with the drying time between coats under normal conditions for at least 24 hours. The recoat time increases at lower temperatures and higher humidity. The thickness of each primer coat should be 18-25 microns. The primer average coverage rate depends on the application method and it is 90-120 g/m2. Cure time of the top coat at least 3 days.
The dried paint and varnish coating is a homogeneous, durable, solid white mass. The quality of the application of fire retardant coating is monitored visually. Unpainted areas are not allowed.
The service life of the fire retardant paint and varnish is 25 years, subject to the requirements for the application and operation of the coating.
Apply the composition with a brush or spray.
The recommended application method is spraying with a GRACO airless sprayer at a pressure of 60 to 90 atmospheres. Confirm the pressure increasing during air spraying with the company manager.
