AKTERM Plast™ Liquid Insulation Coating with the «Liquid Plastic» Effect







АКТЕРМ Plast™ is a liquid insulation coating that basically is a priming enamel (base coat) for long-term protection of both metal and non-metal surfaces. This product has a 3 in 1 formula: it serves as a priming enamel, corrosion inhibitor and finish layer. The material has a “liquid plastic“ effect due to polymer additives to its organic basis. The product can be applied to rusted surfaces as well.

Possible Uses:

AKTERM Plast™ is applied at the outside temperature from -25С° to +35°С to a surface that has similar temperature. Once the thermal insulation layer is completely dry, within the next 24 hours the surface can be used within the temperature range of -60°С to +100°С.

The flow rate of AKTERM Plast™ priming enamel is 60-120 g/m2, depending on the color, with the layer thickness of 1 mm. The colors of the coating are: basic black, white, brown, yellow, green, blue and red.

Product transportation conditions: at the temperature from +7°С до +40°С.

Packaging: 3, 5, 10 or 20 liters metal bucket.

AKTERM Plast™ priming enamels for rusted surfaces are designed to apply directly to rust without precoating, and for protection of metal surfaces against corrosion by significantly prolonging their operational lifetime.

The coating that consists of two or three layers of AKTERM Plast™ anti-corrosion priming enamel for rusted surfaces with the thickness up to 200 microns, when applied to a metal surface, retains its protective properties for eight years for the maximum point of АЗ1 and its decorative properties for three years for the maximum point of AD2 according to GOST (Russian National Standard) 9.401-91. In the tropical climate a three layers base coating applied to metal surface retains its protective and decorative properties according to GOST (Russian National Standard) 9.401-91. The AKTERM Plast™ anti-corrosion priming enamel film is resistant to temperature change from — 50 ºС to +60 °С.

Recommendations of use and methods of applying AKTERM Plast™ liquid insulation material

AKTERM Plast™ priming enamel is applied to a surface using the “wet to wet” method with 60 minutes intercoat drying using the methods of spraying, flow coating, submersion and a paint brush.

Before applying AKTERM Plast™ anti-corrosion priming enamel for rusted surfaces it is recommended to apply a rust modifier (a phosphating composition) to the metal surface. It is prohibited to apply the material to wet, oily or frosted surfaces!

Before use the priming enamel must be thoroughly stirred. It must be applied in one or two layers to a dry surface cleaned from dirt, dust and loose rust using a sprayer, a paint brush or a roller.

AKTERM Plast™ priming enamel is compatible with alkyd enamels (PF-115, PF-133, etc.) and fits well to primer-coated surfaces (primer coats GF, AU, UR, FL, EP).

Drying time: at the temperature of 20 ± 2 °С – from 30 to 40 minutes.

AKTERM Plast™ anti-corrosion priming enameling polymerizes and gains strength within 3 days.

Transportation and storage – according to GOST (Russian National Standard) 9980.5. When stored the funnel viscosity of priming enamels for rusted surfaces is increased compared to the norm according to table 1. When diluting anti-corrosion enamels with a solvent in the quantity of not more than 10 % (of the enamel mass) to the norm the AKTERM Plast™ viscosity must comply with the requirements of this standard.

The guaranteed shelf life of AKTERM Plast™ priming enamels for rusted surfaces of various colors — 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Precautions: AKTERM Plast™ priming enamels for rusted surfaces of various colors are fire hazardous and toxic materials, which is caused by the properties of some of their components.

Persons who conduct the operations of applying AKTERM Plast™ anti-corrosion priming enamels must wear special clothing according to GOST (Russian National Standard) 12.4.103-83 and means of individual protection according to GOST 12.4.011-89 and GOST 12.4.068-79. Means of individual protection for respiratory organs – according to GOST 12.4.028-76, GOST 12.4.004-74 and GOST 17269-71. For hand protection rubber gloves must be used.

Operations related to using AKTERM Plast™ priming enamels for rusted surfaces must be carried out in buildings and rooms with local or purge ventilation according to GOST 12.4.021-75 to provide the  specific air environment condition according to GOST 12.1.005-88. Keep away from open fire.

When conducting painting works and upon their completion it is necessary to thoroughly ventilate the room.

The fire extinguishing agents are sand, fire blankets, OKP-10 foam-based fire extinguishers, OU-2 and OU-5 carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, foam installations, atomized water – according to GOST 12.4.009-83.

Storage: AKTERM Plast™ priming enamel for rusted surfaces must be stored in a tightly closed container and kept away from moisture and direct sunlight.
